Fire Rages in Anambra, Telecom Mast and Residential Building Destroyed

In a shocking turn of events, a devastating fire broke out in the heart of Awka, Anambra State, on Friday, February 17, 2024, razing a communication mast belonging to a telecommunication firm and a residential building.

Eyewitnesses claim that the fire started due to bush burning that spread to the location of the telecom mast.

The fire, which occurred at Billy Okoye Boulevard Street, Agu-Awka, Awka, quickly engulfed the telecom mast, completely damaging the generator that powered the site.

It took the quick intervention of the fire service to prevent the fire from spreading further and causing even more damage.

Unfortunately, this was not the only fire incident in the area on that fateful day.

Another fire broke out in a residential building in the popular Rockland Estate (Ngozika Estate extension) in Awka.

The fire is said to have been caused by a power surge that emanated from one of the master bedrooms in the estate.

The fire service was once again called to the scene and managed to extinguish the fire, preventing it from causing further damage to the building and its occupants.

The extent of the damage to the residential building is still being assessed, but it is clear that both incidents have left a significant impact on the community.

These fire outbreaks serve as a stark reminder of the importance of fire safety and prevention measures. It is crucial that residents and businesses take the necessary precautions to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
