Forest end their winless streak by beating Villa

Aston Villa missed the chance to move into the top four of the Premier League as they suffered a 2-0 defeat by Nottingham Forest in a Midlands derby on Sunday. The hosts ended their six-game winless streak with two stunning goals from Ola Aina and Orel Mangala, who both scored from long range.

Villa’s goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, who had just won the Lev Yashin award for the best goalkeeper in the world at the Ballon d’Or ceremony, could not believe his eyes as the Forest fans celebrated their first home clean sheet of the season. Villa’s unbeaten run of six games came to an end, and they remained fifth in the table, five points behind leaders Manchester City. Forest climbed to 12th place with the win.
