FIFA Ethics Committee to Probe Samuel Eto’o Over Match-Fixing and Threat Charges

The FIFA Ethics Committee is set to open an investigation into Cameroon football legend Samuel Eto’o.

The former Barcelona and Inter Milan star, who is now the President of the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot), has been accused of match-fixing, making threats, and inciting violence.

The allegations were first brought to light by former Fecafoot vice-president Henry Njalla Quan Junior, who sent a file detailing the accusations to both FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The file claims that Eto’o was involved in manipulating matches involving his football academy and Kumba City FC, with the goal of getting Victoria United promoted to the first division.

Eto’o has denied the allegations, claiming that his conversations with Valentine Nkwain, the president of Victoria United, were misinterpreted.

Nkwain has also denied any involvement in match-fixing. However, the Cameroonian police have launched an investigation into the matter, interviewing key witnesses and examining potential involvement from up to 40 individuals.

The FIFA Ethics Committee investigation is a significant development in this ongoing saga, as it could lead to severe consequences for Eto’o and others implicated in the scandal.

If found guilty, Eto’o could face a ban from football-related activities and damage to his reputation as one of Africa’s most celebrated football icons.

The football world is watching closely as this story unfolds, and many are hoping for a fair and transparent investigation into these serious allegations.
