FG summons heads of aviation regulatory agencies over safety concerns

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has called the Chief Executive Officers of aviation regulatory agencies to his office over the recent repeated safety issues in the aviation industry.

The minister revealed this in a statement on his official X handle on Monday.

He emphasised the need to evaluate recent incidents during the meeting carefully.

He wrote: To deliberate on the recent mishaps in the sector and later inform the press on the outcome of the discussion to prevent such occurrences.

“Due to safety concerns in the aviation sector raised by members of the public, I have called the heads of the regulatory agencies to my office later today to examine the incidents that are the sources of these concerns and to ensure that proper steps are taken to avoid future occurrences and to impose sanctions, where necessary, regarding the past incidents.”

The agencies involved are the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), the Federal Airport Authority Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
