By Millicent Ifeanyichukwu

Rev. Canon Oluwole Akindutire, the Vicar of St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Amje, Alagbado, has called on fathers to base their actions and decisions on the word of God.

Akindutire made the call in a sermon titled: “Results of Godly Obedience” to mark the 2023 Father’s Day celebration on Sunday in Lagos.

The priest who took the Bible reading from John Chapter 15 verse 26 charged fathers to align their lives with the word of God.

“When we obey God, our prayers will be heard and answered, hence we must align our life with the word of God.

“As fathers, we must provide for the basic needs of the family, no matter the situation of things, we must realise that mothers are only to complement the rest.

“Fathers as the head of the home must take charge, while they are expected to provide basic needs such as food, shelter and clothing,” he added.

He said that discipline in the home must be championed by fathers to the child or children.

“Train up a child in the way he should grow when he grows up he will not depart from it.

“Some of us fathers today are thankful to God the way our fathers handled and brought us up which placed us in good positions today.

“God has made us heads in our homes with responsibilities attached as fathers, we must, therefore, train our children well as God has commanded, so that they will give us rest in later part of our lives,” he added.

He charged mothers and children to continue to pray for the fathers and prayed for God to bless the work of their hands and prosper their ways.
