Excitement, Warri, Udu, Oborevwori, market, flyover,
A wave of jubilation swept through Warri, Effurun, and Udu on Saturday as Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, undertook an inspection tour of major infrastructure projects, including the multibillion-naira Udu Harbour Market, the Enerhen Junction Flyover, and a series of storm drainage systems.
The visit, part of his administration’s commitment to quality service delivery under the MORE Agenda, was met with fanfare as cheering residents, traders, and women leaders thronged the project sites to welcome and commend the Governor for his people-first approach to governance.
At the Udu Harbour Market site, where construction has reached an advanced stage, Governor Oborevwori highlighted the market’s capacity—604 lock-up shops, 120 open stalls, a modern abattoir, and supporting facilities—describing it as one of the largest and most strategic in the state. “When completed, this market will become an economic engine for the region,” he declared.
The Governor also inspected ongoing structural work at the Enerhen Junction Flyover and adjoining stormwater control channels. Speaking to reporters, he reaffirmed that these interventions are designed to tackle urban flooding, ease traffic congestion, and enhance economic activity across the axis.
Debunking claims of uneven development, Oborevwori emphasized his pan-Delta approach. “I may be Urhobo, but I am Governor for all Deltans,” he stated. He further assured that all projects are adequately funded, with zero delays in contractor payments—an uncommon feat in the Nigerian context.
At the Phase III Airport Road, Ugborikoko, and Ugboroke flood control site under the Warri/Uvwie and Environs Development Agency (WUEDA), the Governor reiterated his commitment to urban renewal and erosion control. “What you see today is just the beginning. We will continue to do more,” he pledged.
Accompanied by Julius Berger Project Manager, Thamos Haut Haug, the Governor praised the construction giant for maintaining high standards. “The ramps and fillings are completed; final asphalting will begin soon,” he announced, to the applause of motorists and residents.
The tour further underscored Oborevwori’s determination to deliver lasting infrastructure that enhances commerce, mobility, and quality of life for all Deltans.
