Edo State FACAN celebrates bumper harvest of sesame seeds

Edo State chapter of the Federated Commodity Association of Nigeria, FACAN, has recorded a bumper harvest of Sesame seed in Edo State.

Speaking at the harvest event in Benin, the FACAN Chairman, Prince Enahoro Ojiefoh who was so elated appreciated God for the bountiful harvest.

” I never expected anything less because the grace of God was sufficient for us during and after our farmer’s employment program in the state.

I made my promise bold and transparent for our farmers to see and we are still going to replicate more success in 2022.”

Prince Ojiefoh disclosed that FACAN signed a 100% off-taker agreement with Peniel Gerar International Limited to buy all harvest directly from the farm.

He said that Peniel Gerar has promised to procure tractors to assist farmers in the State by January maintaining that FACAN National President, Dr Iyama had given them a matching order to deliver their promises by four years.

“Today we have signed a 100% off-taker agreement with Peniel Gerar Intl Ltd to buy all harvested from the farmers directly from the farm.

Peniel Gerar has also promised us tractors for next year farming season to support our farmers in the state by January.

Our National President, Dr Iyama has given us a matching order to deliver our promises with 4 years and we are doing it on cocoa beans, sesame seeds, cashew nuts, soybeans and groundnut.”

Prince Ojiefoh noted that so far their off-takers has bought over 5 trucks and more mini-warehouses has been set up for collection.

He further stated that Peniel Gerar Intl Ltd is building a mega warehouse now in Edo North for sesame seeds, cashew nuts and groundnuts which will be completed by January 2022.

The FACAN Chairman thanked the Governor of the state, Mr Godwin On for supporting and creating the enabling environment for agribusiness to thrive in the state.
