Economic Hardship: Ozekhome Criticizes Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’

Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mike Ozekhome, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” mantra, claiming that the current economic hardship in the country is a case of “renewed poverty” rather than hope.

Ozekhome made these remarks during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, where he emphasized that the current situation in Nigeria is poverty on a higher scale.

He argued that the government should look to other countries like Argentina for innovative solutions, instead of relying on the removal of subsidies as a “magical wand.”

The senior advocate also addressed the ongoing demonstrations in Nigeria, stating that it is not accurate to claim that they are all sponsored.

He pointed out that the widespread nature of the protests, from Ibadan to Osogbo and from Kano to Owerri, is a clear indication of the severity of the situation.

Ozekhome stressed that hunger does not discriminate and that the current economic hardship is affecting everyone, regardless of their background.

He concluded by saying that the government must acknowledge the severity of the situation and take necessary steps to address the issue of poverty in the country.
