Court Revokes Arrest Warrant Against Fubara's Chief of Staff and Others in Alleged Terrorism Case

By Advocate | May 3, 2024 | 2 min read |
Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja has set aside the order for the arrest of Edison Ehie, Chief of Staff to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and five others.
The decision was made on April 25, 2024, after it was determined that the initial order had been issued without jurisdiction.
The accused individuals, including Jinjiri Bala, Happy Bennett, Progress Joseph, Adokiye Oyagiri, and Chibuike Peter, were declared wanted by the court after the charges of alleged acts of terrorism were filed against them.
However, Justice Nwite's recent ruling has provided them temporary relief from the arrest warrant.
During the proceedings, counsel for the respondents, Oluwile Aladedoye, argued that the court should stay execution of the judgment pending the hearing and determination of the motion seeking to set aside the warrant of arrest.
The revocation of the arrest warrant against Fubara's Chief of Staff and the other accused individuals has sparked a new wave of interest in the case, as it raises questions about the legal basis for the initial warrant and the implications for the accused parties moving forward.
As the case continues to unfold, all eyes will be on the Federal High Court in Abuja and Justice Nwite, as the defendants and their legal representatives prepare to challenge the accusations and argue for their innocence in the alleged terrorism case.
