Dry cleaner found dead hanging in Delta; sister cries foul, says he was murdered

By Ovasa Ogaga,

The elder sister a middle aged man, Moses Mordi Omatsheyin who was found dead yesterday hanging from the ceiling of his sitting room at his residence in the Itsekiri road area of Sapele Delta State has raised alarm alleging that her younger brother may have been murder and made to appear as suicide, Mrs Patience Ebeneyon said.

Advocate gathered that the deceased was allegedly  was found dead on Tuesday morning by neighbours who were worried by his absence and reportedly informed his relatives who broke into his house to find his body in an already decomposing state.

Speaking to Advocate, Mrs Ebeneyon said that at first, they were made to believe that her brother committed suicide, but on a closer look at his room after his body was evacuated, blood were found splattered on his carpet and his mattress.

The visibly emotional Mrs Ebeneyon who spoke to one of our correspondent amidst tears said his brother was murdered “how can you say he committed suicide when it was obvious he was killed.

“Look his carpet was stained with blood and his mattress and other clothes were in blood, we found him hanging from his ceiling fan and his legs were firmly on the ground, so it was stage managed to make every one believed it was suicide but its murder”

Speaking also, his cousin Florence Omagbemi said; “Mordi would never think of committing suicide so we knew it was murder case, look at blood on his bed and look at the back room where the people who killed him passed into his room, his pressing iron was even on when we got into the house so the police should find the killers.

He was not in good terms with his northern neighbours so they must have conspired to kill him, they can’t say they don’t know who broke into the house or did not see people breaking in, they sleep around his house in the night so it’s obvious he must have been killed,” Florence said.

Meanwhile, Omatsheyin’s body was said to have been buried by the family members yesterday after some tradition rites were carried out.

Mrs Ebeneyon said, “we had to bury him because mortuaries were rejecting his body so, we had no choice than to bury him.”

When contacted the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer,  Onome Onowhakpoyeya said she was unaware of the case, but promised to call back, but has not retured the call as at the time of filing this report, however, a senior police source confirmed the incident adding that  police were investigating a possible case  of murder though it appeared suicide.
