Devastating Fire at Idumota Market, Lagos: Millions in Goods Destroyed

A massive fire engulfed the Nanadi Azikwe and Docemo section of the popular Idumota Market in Lagos State, Nigeria, destroying goods worth millions of Naira.

The blaze affected three buildings, including two two-storey structures and one three-storey building, which housed various shops selling clothes, bags, and shoes.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and other emergency service providers swiftly responded to the scene and are currently working to contain the fire.

Firefighting operations are ongoing, with stations at Ebute Elefun, Ilupeju, and Alausa deploying resources to mitigate the situation effectively.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and investigations are underway to determine the source of the blaze and the extent of the damage.

No casualties have been confirmed at this time.

Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service Director, Margaret Adeseye, has urged residents to cooperate with emergency personnel and avoid the area for their safety.
