Delta LG Election: Uto-Ewu youths urge Arhavwarien to contest for Ughelli South Chairman

Ahead of the forthcoming local government council election in Delta State, a pressure group, Uto-Ewu Youth Council, (UEYC) has called on the Majority Leader of Ughelli South legislative Arm, Hon. Andrew Arhavwarien to contest as Chairman in the council election.

Arhavwarien, who also doubles as the coordinator, Hilary Ambassadors for Okowa in the 2019 general election, the youths believes has the capacity and the needed political experience to transform Ughelli South local government when elected.

The group in a released signed by the Chairman, Comrade Ovie Obaruara and the publicity Secretary, Mr Junior Akpovoka explained that the call was necessitated by the high level of negligence, underdevelopment, backwardness, economic retrogression and high level of poverty in the area.

The statement stressed further, that since 1999 to date of Nigeria’s unbroken democracy by successive government, the people of Uto-Ewu Axis have not enjoyed dividends of democracy like others, No access road, electricity, zero healthcare facilities, even good water to drink is not there.

“Our area is arguably one of the most backward in terms of infrastructural and human capital development, it is also worthy of note that, honourable Arhavwarien is the highest political office holder in the area since inception.

“Our Primary and Secondary Schools blocks are aged, they are in dare need of renovation, there is no scholarship support for our children in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions.

“Bordered by all these concerns, we the members of Uto-Ewu Youth Council, believed that it is time for us as a people to experience a paradigm shift from poverty, backwardness, underdevelopment to a new era of sustainable development, true and effective representation.

“It is on this note, this group which is made up of vibrant, innovative and well-articulated youths, is making this urgent appeal to our great and dynamic leader with impeccable character to contest the forthcoming local government council Chairmanship election.

“Having contested the Chairmanship in the last dispensation before now, the group also assured him of their total support knowing fully well that it is her turn to produce the LGA Chairman due to the zoning structures between Olomu and Ewu.

“The group is calling on the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to ensure there is equity and fairness, that any move to undermine equitable arrangement may spell doom for the party in the area. A stitch in time saves nine.
