The Delta State Government has officially transferred 215 hectares of land to the federal government for the establishment of the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences in Kwale, marking a significant milestone in the state's educational development.

At a ceremony in Asaba on Thursday, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, handed over the land documents to the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, who was represented by the Director of Education, Mrs. Rakiya Ilyasu Gambo.

The land includes 200 hectares designated for the university's permanent campus and 15 hectares for its temporary site. "We are thrilled to see the long-held dream of a federal university in our state come to life," said Oborevwori. "The state government is committed to supporting the university 100 percent to ensure a successful launch."

The governor expressed gratitude to the federal government, particularly President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Education, for selecting Delta as the host for this prestigious institution.

The federal team, led by Mrs. Gambo, conducted an inspection of the sites and expressed satisfaction with the state's efforts and support. She praised the Delta State government for its commitment to the project and for facilitating the transfer of land.

The event was attended by key state officials, including the Commissioners for Lands and Survey, Urban Renewal, Higher Education, and Primary Education, underscoring the state's dedication to making the university a reality.
