Delta Government commends Sam Omatseye on the launch of his latest book

The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori, extends warm congratulations to Mr. Sam Omatseye, a distinguished columnist, serial author, and Chairman of the Editorial Board of The Nation Newspapers, on the launch of his latest book: “Beating All Odds: How Bola Tinubu became President.”

In praising Omatseye’s literary contributions, Oborevwori lauds him as Nigeria’s foremost chronicler of the nation’s experiences, adeptly capturing the essence and impact of its trials and triumphs.

“We encourage other journalists and writers to follow suit and contribute to the ever-expanding Library of Thought and Information, enriching our democratic discourse,” remarked Oborevwori.

The Governor’s remarks were delivered on Tuesday in Abuja during the book’s formal launch, represented by Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, Commissioner for Information. Also present were Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, Commissioner for Works (Rural), and Mideno Bayagbon, a veteran Journalist and former Editor of Vanguard Newspapers.

The event witnessed the presence of notable dignitaries, including Vice-President Alhaji Kashim Shetima, former Governor Aremo Olusegun Osoba, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, former Governor of Delta State, Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, former Governor of Lagos State, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, and Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, among others.

During the event, Osoba highlighted the significance of Omatseye’s work, emphasizing the depth of insight it offers into the journey of Bola Tinubu towards the presidency. He commended Omatseye for his transition from journalist to author, a feat worthy of celebration.

In his remarks, Omatseye shared the inspiration behind the book, citing a compilation of events and diaries related to the 2023 Presidential election. He detailed the book’s two-part structure, tracing the turbulent path of Tinubu’s ascension to the presidency amidst various challenges and controversies.

Goodwill messages were delivered by Tunji Bello, Azu Ishiekwene, Alex Kabba, and Charles Aniagwu, while veteran Louis Odion provided a comprehensive review of the book.

Vice-President Kashim Shetima delivered a poignant speech titled “Sam Omatseye: A Journey to Unearth Truth in the Depths of History,” commending Omatseye as a fearless wordsmith and sentinel for Nigeria’s history. Shetima celebrated Omatseye’s courage in confronting uncomfortable truths, describing him as both a hero and intellectual deserving of recognition.

The event concluded with accolades for Omatseye’s contribution to Nigeria’s literary landscape, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s cultural and intellectual discourse.
