Delta Council chairman, Commissioner call for regular cleanliness

The Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Council in Delta State, Comrade Friday Ovoke Warri, and the State Commissioner for Environment, Ejiro Jamani, have urged residents across the state to adopt the habit of regularly cleaning their environment.

The appeal was made on Saturday in Oleh, the headquarters of Isoko South, during the November end-of-month sanitation exercise.

At the popular Yanga Market in Oleh, Warri and Jamani warned traders against engaging in indiscriminate and unlawful trading on government-designated rights-of-way.

They emphasized that offenders would face legal consequences. Additionally, they directed traders around the market to leave their shops and participate actively in the environmental sanitation exercise.

The Environment Commissioner, Ejiro Jamani, highlighted that sustainable development can only be achieved by maintaining a clean and well-cared-for environment, which in turn attracts investors and visitors. He also stressed the importance of traders adhering to government regulations in their business operations.

"Traders who own shops must not sell on government rights-of-way, and any violators will be penalized. I commend the Isoko South Council Chairman for his efforts in cleaning up the Yanga Market and its surroundings," Jamani said.

The Council Chairman, Comrade Friday Ovoke Warri, expressed gratitude to the Commissioner for taking the time to travel from Asaba, the state capital, to join the November sanitation exercise in Oleh.

"It was a pleasure to have the Commissioner for Environment participate in today's environmental sanitation exercise. God bless you, my brother. The people of Isoko South and the government appreciate your efforts," Warri noted.

A major highlight of the exercise was the on-the-spot inspection of shop owners actively engaging in the cleanup activities.
