By Ovedhe Hezekiah,

As efforts geared towards alleviating the suffering of the needy as a result of the two weeks lockdown order by the Delta State Government to check the spread of the ravaging coronavirus, some political leaders of Otibio Ward in Isoko North Local Government Council of Delta State, today embarked on door to door disbursement of cash in communities that made up Otibio Ward.

The presentation which was done as part of their contributions towards cushioning the effect of the Stay at Home orders was done without a party or religious consideration.

The leaders who are Engr. Pastor Jonathan Ukodhiko, Engr. Peter Odunwa and Hon Jude Omena Ogbimi presented 10,000 and 5000 amounts of cash to the over 1500 persons drawn from Enagbedi, Erawha, Aziaro, Otie, and Otor-Igho communities respectively who are widows, old men, and women, among others.

While presenting the cash to the beneficiaries, one of the donors, Engr. Peter Odunwa said that the gesture was borne out of their desires to ameliorate the suffering of the very poor in the communities who have been finding it difficult to feed.

“All we did was to put a smile on the faces of the widows, old men, and women who are vulnerable in the communities we visited under Otibio Ward. Though it is not much I am glad the purpose was achieved and thank God you saw the smile on their faces. This shows that they appreciate what we gave to them.”

In a swift response, one of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Charity Ashoma from Otie-Owhe and Mrs. Grace Obiero commended the donors praying God to bless and guide them in their various endeavors.
