Brazilian icon Cafu has left Cristiano Ronaldo off his list of football's greatest players ever. Speaking to Spain's El Mundo newspaper, the former defender ranked four names above the Portuguese star.
Cafu's picks are Lionel Messi, Ronaldinho, Diego Maradona, and Pelé. He made the comments after watching Messi score a hat-trick as Argentina thrashed Algeria 3-0 in World Cup action.
"Maradona is the embodiment of football art, as are Messi, Pelé, and Ronaldinho," Cafu told the publication. "When I see those unique and brilliant players, I really enjoy it."
According to him, these four stand on equal footing historically. "These four players are on par and are the greatest in history," he stressed.
Cafu believes their impact extends beyond the pitch. "These four truly changed the sport and are still changing it today," he noted.
