Benue State Education Agency Demands Immediate Refund of Overcharged WAEC/NECO Fees to SS3 Students

The Benue State Education Quality Assurance Agency (BSEQAA) has directed school principals in the state to immediately refund the excess WAEC/NECO handling charges imposed on final year senior secondary school (SS3) students.

The agency’s director-general, Dr. Francis Terna, gave the directive on Thursday, following a visit to some schools in Makurdi, the state capital.

During his visit, Dr. Terna engaged with students in SS3 to ascertain what they had paid as WAEC and NECO examination fees.

Upon discovering the discrepancies, he instructed the principals to refund the excess charges to the students without delay.

The agency has also mandated all schools to adhere strictly to the approved handling charges of N5000 per student.

Dr. Terna emphasized that this measure would ensure that students are not burdened with unnecessary financial strain and that educational institutions comply with the government’s policies.

This development has been met with praise from parents and students alike, as it demonstrates the agency’s commitment to ensuring that educational institutions in Benue State operate in a transparent and fair manner.
