Bayero University Graduates 11,284 in 18 Faculties: A Celebration of Academic Excellence

Bayero University, Kano, recently celebrated its 38th convocation ceremony with a remarkable achievement: 11,284 students graduated in 18 faculties, with 180 students receiving First Class honors.

The institution also conferred higher degrees and post graduate diplomas on 5,432 graduands who have successfully completed their studies.

The event was graced by prominent figures such as Deputy Senate President Jibril Barau and the President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina, who were both conferred with honorary doctorate degrees.

President Bola Tinubu, represented by the Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting education and sustainable development.

Tinubu emphasized the government’s efforts to revamp vocational and Tsangaya centers to improve education and expand skills among youths in the country.

He also mentioned plans to develop sustainable electricity in universities through compressed natural gas to boost research in the universities.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio congratulated the graduands and encouraged them to see themselves as leaders of tomorrow, making the best use of their degrees.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Abbas, announced that Bayero University is now ranked the 5th best university in Nigeria in the 2024 Universities Assessment ranking by Times Higher Education.

The university was ranked second in terms of international outlook, following Covenant University.

The VC emphasized the institution’s determination to improve its visibility on the global scene and maintain quality as well as improved facilities for enhanced teaching and research.

In closing, the VC congratulated the graduands and urged them to behave well, having been found worthy in both character and learning.

He encouraged them to be worthy ambassadors of Bayero University wherever they go.

The convocation ceremony at Bayero University, Kano, showcased the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and the success of its students.
