Ikeje Asogwa of the All Progressives Congress has won the Enugu North Senatorial by-election decisively. He polled 162,360 votes from a total of 184,094 accredited voters.
INEC officials announced the results early Sunday morning at their Enugu office. Asogwa's commanding performance across all six local government areas in the district secured his victory.
His main challenger, Nestor Ezeme of the People's Democratic Party, came a distant second. Ezeme managed just 9,299 votes in the election.
Samson Ezea, Asogwa's media director, said the outcome demonstrates widespread backing for the APC candidate. According to him, voters across the senatorial district have given Asogwa a clear mandate to represent them in the Senate.
