Arsenal Women boss Renee Slegers has praised Nigeria's Chiamaka Nnadozie after Brighton held the Gunners to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday.
Fuka Tsunoda put Brighton ahead before halftime at the Broadfield Stadium. Frida Maanum equalized for Arsenal in the second half.
Nnadozie produced a commanding display between the sticks for Brighton. She's now part of a team riding an impressive five-match unbeaten run in the league.
It marks Brighton's longest stretch without defeat since at least the 2011-12 season. The Super Falcons goalkeeper has been central to that success.
She made several critical interventions during the match. One fingertip save denied Caitlin Foord a clear opening.
Nnadozie also blocked Lotte Wubben-Moy from a set-piece, though an offside call ruled out any danger anyway. Her positioning was exceptional throughout.
Slegers noted that Arsenal struggled to break down Brighton's defensive setup. Even with Alessia Russo and Stina Blackstenius on the pitch, chances remained limited.
"Brighton plays with great conviction and intensity," the Arsenal manager told the BBC. She acknowledged the visitors' defensive organization created real problems.
According to Slegers, Arsenal had opportunities to exploit space behind Brighton's lines. But Nnadozie's command of that area forced high standards in execution.
"There's a high level of quality required to get past her," she added. Slegers praised the Nigerian's alertness and decision-making.
Brighton faces Liverpool next Sunday in the FA Cup semifinal. Nnadozie will be crucial to any hopes of reaching the final.
