Another girl found dead in Sapele, as residents urge police to up their game

Barely three weeks after corps of a girl was discovered in a popular hotel in Sapele, another lifeless body of an unidentified girl was today (Monday) discovered at about 9am along New Ogorode road, close to the Naval base in Sapele, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.

 ADVOCATE gathered that the body of the girl said to be in her late 20s was allegedly discovered by passerby who then alerted the men of vigilante in the area who promptly called in the police.

An eye witness’s account said, the deceased was allegedly stabbed to death by unknown persons early this morning and was found in the pool of her blood, adding that as at the time police came, blood was still dripping from her neck and other places she was stabbed by her assailant.

A senior police officer at Sapele Police station confirmed incident to our correspondent, saying that investigation to uncover the circumstances the death of the girl is ongoing, adding that the corps have been deposited in an undisclosed mortuary

This killing brings to the third girl killed in mysterious circumstances in the past two months in Sapele which attracted the Sapele Council Chairman, Hon Eugene Inoaghan calling a meeting with hotel owners where two girls were said to have lost their lives.

Many residents speaking aloud has attributed the recent rise in what they termed ritual related killings in Sapele to the uncheck activities of “Ghana Buggers” popularly refers to “G-boys or Yahoo++” which has become the biggest industry in Sapele and environs.

Speaking to ADVOCATE, a resident who simply gave his name as Mr. Ovo blame the security authority for not doing enough in  tackling rising cases of ritual related killing in Sapele.

He particularly blamed the police for hobnobbing with fraud stars whose activities is linked to ritual killings, noting that instead prosecuting known fraud stars in the town, men of the Nigerian police allegedly; “share from the ill-gotten wealth of these G-boys and Yahoo++”
