Amotekun Commanders March in Solidarity for Akeredolu in Akure

In a display of unity and support, Amotekun commanders from the six southwestern states of Nigeria marched through the streets of Akure, the capital of Ondo State, on January 4, 2024.

The march was organized to honor the late Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Odunayo Akeredolu, who passed away on December 31, 2023.

The Amotekun commanders, led by the Chairman of the South West Amotekun Commanders, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, praised Akeredolu for his vision in establishing the Amotekun security outfit.

They described his death as a monumental loss to the South West and Nigeria as a whole.

During the march, the commanders were joined by the Olubaka of Oka Akoko and other chiefs, who extended their sympathies and emphasized the need for unity in order to continue the security efforts in the region.

The Amotekun security outfit was established in 2020 as a regional security force to tackle security challenges in the southwestern states of Nigeria.

The late Governor Akeredolu was a strong advocate for the creation of the security outfit and played a key role in its formation.

The march for Akeredolu in Akure was a powerful demonstration of the unity and commitment of the Amotekun commanders to continue the legacy of the late governor in ensuring the safety and security of the people in the southwestern region of Nigeria.
