Aladja/ Ogbe Ijaw crisis: Implement boundary committee panel report Ughwanogho to Delta state govt.

Delta Central Senatorial candidate under the Social Democratic party SDP, Olorogun Dr. Ovie Ughwanogho has called for the implementation of the report submitted by the boundary committee panel set up by the Delta State Government on the Aladja/Ogbe-Ijaw land crisis.

It was gathered that over six persons, Mr. Stephen Jephia, 60, Elohor Djoka, 20, Saturday Gabriel, 30, and George Orhirhi including a pregnant mother whose name could not be identified as at time of this report were allegedly killed on Monday, October 22, by military officers raising tension in both communities.

 

 

 

Ughwanoho who paid a condolence visit to commiserate with the people of Aladja and the immediate families of the deceased at the palace of Udu monarch, HRM, Delekpe Owhoru I, said, “The Delta state government should implement the report of the boundary committee panel in other for the warring communities to embrace peace.

According to him, “Security personnel drafted to maintain peace should always be professional in dealing with armless civilians because the incessant crisis between these communities have claimed lives of many that cannot be restored.

 

 

 

 

 

“Security agencies drafted to the area must handle the situation professionally in accordance with international best practices and the people of Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh should embrace peace in order to attract government presence in the area”.

 

 

 

 

 

Responding, the Udu monarch, HRM, Dr.  Delekpe, Owhoru I, JP who expressed gratitude to Olorogun Dr. Uwanogho for his condolence visit, said, “Very few Urhobo leaders can champion a course like this. saying; some of the Urhobo politicians has failed to champion this course of peace”.

 

Lamenting the poor attention given to the matter, the monarch alleged that Senators, House of Representative members, State House of Assembly members and even the local government chairmen have failed on this issue because they have different interest.

 

 

 

“Immediately after occupying their desire seats, they forget the people who voted them into power rather than becoming servants, they become lords, so I brought out myself to fight the battle

 

 

 

 

 

While appealing to government to find a lasting solution to the lingering crisis, the monarch held that the fight is not just about Aladja/ Ogbe-Ijaw because some of the leaders who belong to different camps are taking side on the matter.

 

 

 

The Royal father brought to consciousness of all that this fight is not just about Aladja or Udu hence there is more public focus on this lingering issue between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijaw.
