Akeredolu’s Remains Arrive Nigeria

The remains of the late Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, arrived in Nigeria on January 5, 2024.

The body was received at the airport by his wife, Chief Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, his children, and siblings, led by Prof. Wole Akeredolu, the immediate younger brother.

The plane carrying Akeredolu’s remains touched down at 3:39 pm, and the late governor’s body was transported from Germany, where he passed away.

The event was attended by various political figures, including Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by his Chief of Staff, Tayo Ayinde; Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbi Talabi; and a representative of Osun State Governor, Senator Demola Adeleke.

Akeredolu, a respected figure in Nigerian politics, served as the Governor of Ondo State from 2020 until his untimely passing in 2023.

His death has been met with an outpouring of grief from supporters and colleagues, who have praised his dedication to public service and his commitment to the betterment of Ondo State.

The late Governor’s remains were received with a mixture of sadness and gratitude for his service. In a statement, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, said, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Governor Akeredolu, but we take solace in the fact that he left a legacy of progress and development in Ondo State.”

As the nation mourns the loss of a dedicated public servant, preparations are underway for a state funeral to honor Akeredolu’s memory and celebrate his life and achievements.
