Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has promised FCT residents that their hard work will pay off. She made the pledge on Sunday via her verified X account.

Yesufu outlined plans for an Abuja Residents Empowerment Bill if elected FCT Senator in 2027. She said the legislation would reserve contracts for youth and women-owned businesses.

A co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls Movement, Yesufu detailed three key components of her proposed bill. Rent control measures would shield residents from exploitative increases, she explained.

According to her, the bill would also eliminate double taxation on Abuja residents. Skills training programs would equip locals with practical, marketable abilities.

She added that access to capital provisions would earmark tax revenue for micro-loans. Such funding would help entrepreneurs launch and expand their businesses, Yesufu wrote.
