Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma claims the NDC primary election in Edo South was rigged. Yet he says he won anyway, despite the alleged manipulation.
The senatorial aspirant made these claims Friday during an interview on Arise Television. He's demanding the party announce the results immediately.
Recall that NDC hasn't released its primary election outcome from last week. Agbonayinma is growing impatient about the delay.
"I won Edo South NDC primaries despite the process being rigged," he told the broadcaster. According to him, ward chairmen and local government leaders confirmed his victory.
He noted there's no confusion about who won the contest. Six days have passed since May 29th when voting occurred, he added.
"What is being hidden or held back?" Agbonayinma asked pointedly. "Today is June 5th, so why the silence?"
Winners should move forward with their candidacy, he argued. He stressed that he'd have accepted defeat if he'd lost fairly.
"Since I won, I should be given the opportunity to proceed," Agbonayinma said. He's calling on party officials to release the official results without further delay.
