Elder, leaders and youths of the Abiala II community in Ikoba Okha Local Area Government of Edo states have rejected attempts by some persons to change the name of their community to Ikokodiagbene for their self-interest.

The leaders and stakeholders of the Abiala II community stated this at the end of the Abiala II community general meeting held on June 8th, 2024, at Sapele, in Delta State.

Rising from the meeting, they unanimously rejected attempts by the former Exco headed by Mr Berlin Tiemo, as was published in Vanguard newspaper on February 3rd, 2023.

Parts of their resolutions at the meeting as contained in the minutes of the meeting signed by Abiala II community leaders, Chairman, Mr Thompson Abanara; Vice Chairman, Mr Abraham Posigha, and Secretary, Mr President Idenakeme, read in parts:

"Given the foregoing, the elders, chiefs and youths of the Abiała II community, in one voice, unanimously agreed that the former and original name of the community should remain and the new one changed by Berlin Tiemo's Exco in the Vanguard of Feb. 3 2023, be voided.

"That the name Abiala ll community still stands with all relevant documents known to law, government, elders, women, youths and stakeholders as named by our fathers.

"That the general public should therefore note that all correspondence should be addressed to the Abiala ll community, Kokodiagbene, Ikpoba Okha LGA, Edo State.

They therefore, urged the relevant authorities, security agencies and the general public to disregard attempts by some self-serving individuals to rewrite history by changing the name of the community.
