Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has clinched the APC ticket for Bende Federal Constituency in the 2027 elections. Former Labour Minister Nkeiruka Onyejeocha also secured her party's nomination for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi.
Both candidates ran unopposed during Saturday's primary elections across Abia State's eight federal constituencies. The exercise wrapped up without incident, officials confirmed.
Barrister Erasmus Cishak, who chaired the primary election committee, announced results at APC headquarters in Umuahia. He praised the process as transparent and credible.
Party members participated actively throughout the state, Cishak told reporters. Stakeholders also took part in the voting.
Chris Nkwonta won the nomination for Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency on Saturday. Uzor Azubuike emerged victorious for Aba North/Aba South.
Chinedum Orji, former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, secured the ticket for Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South. Uzoma Theodore Uka claimed the Isiala Ngwa North/Isiala Ngwa South nomination.
Udo Alozie won for Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency. Ikenna Nicholas clinched the Arochukwu/Ohafia ticket.
According to Cishak, party members conducted themselves in an orderly manner throughout. Internal democracy governed every stage of the process.
Cishak noted that fairness remained paramount during the primaries. His committee stuck to established guidelines without deviation.
Results position the APC for the 2027 general elections in the state. Party officials expect the outcomes to strengthen campaign efforts ahead.
