Abakaliki FC will give its players and coaching staff a 55-day break following elimination from the President Federation Cup.

The Rice Boys announced the decision through Chairman Senator Obinna Ogba in an official statement.

Players are scheduled to resume training on Saturday, July 25, 2026. Management plans to use the break to review their recent campaign.

Ogba noted the club would address shortcomings ahead of the 2026–27 season. Details about retained players will follow, he added.

Abakaliki finished fifth in Conference B with 25 points. Barau FC knocked them out of the Federation Cup in the Round of 32 fixture held in Abuja.
