Delta State Police Command has seized 26 vehicles for operating without proper registration plates or displaying altered and unreadable number plates.

Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi personally led the crackdown in Asaba and surrounding areas on Thursday.

According to Oyeniyi, the operation targets improved vehicle identification and crime prevention across the state. He noted that strengthening public safety remained a priority for the command.

Motorists caught violating the rules faced arraignment at a Mobile Court sitting in Asaba. They were charged with the relevant traffic offences.

Oyeniyi called on all vehicle owners to comply strictly with registration requirements. He stressed the need to display only approved number plates on their vehicles.

In his words, the enforcement drive aims to promote accountability in the transportation sector. Unregistered vehicles often serve as tools for criminal activities, he warned.

Police will intensify similar operations statewide, the commissioner added. He said motorists who ignore traffic laws should expect consequences.
