Guber election: Group urges Nigerians to vote candidates with integrity, competence

By Alex Enebeli

An Igbo group, Anya-NDI-Igbo, has urged Nigerians to vote candidates with integrity, competence and capacity, irrespective of political parties during the Governorship/House of Assembly elections.

The group made the call in a statement jointly signed by its Board of Trustee Chairman, Dr Uma Eleazu, President, Chris Okoye and Secretary, Mr Okey Nwadinobi in Enugu on Wednesday.

They thanked Nigerians for coming out en masse and patriotically to fulfill their civic duties against the so-called odds of INEC’S logistics and technical challenges during the Presidential and National Assembly election.

The group said, “We appreciate your response to our appeal, and we salute you during the last election.

“We hereby call on you
once again to repeat the performance during the Gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections on March 18.

“We invite you again to cast your votes for candidates who have integrity, competence, capacity, and who are responsive to the common good”.

The group further expressed satisfaction and thanked Nigerian voters across board for heeding to their call to vote the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Peter Obi during the Feb. 25 Presidential Election.

According to them, there is need to use their hard-earned votes to usher in change that is good for them in general, but especially for the teeming youths yearning for better governance.

They stressed that the action would guarantee good paying jobs, security and better opportunities at the state level.

“Therefore, we enjoin you to acquaint yourselves with the logos of all the political parties to enable you to cast your votes appropriately,” the group said.

They further called on Nigerians to hold faith with the electoral process, remain
steadfast, law-abiding, vigilant and resolute during the elections.

“This is so, even as all aggrieved
parties head to the law courts to get justice for electoral infractions against them and their
parties.

“We urge that you cast your votes and watch over your votes and remember that until your vote is cast, collated, counted and transmitted, it does not count,” they appealed.

Anya-NDI-Igbo is a non political and profit group that promotes good governance, leadership for a better society and ensures welfare of the rural communities.
