57.19% of Candidates Obtain Credit in 2023 WAEC WASSCE Results

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the results of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates 2023-Second Series.

Out of the 80,904 candidates who sat for the examination, 46,267 obtained a minimum of five credits, translating to a 57.19% pass rate.

In a statement by the Acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina, it was revealed that 35,830 candidates (44.29%) scored credit and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.

The examination was conducted in Nigeria between October 27, 2023 and December 20, 2023.

WAEC has urged candidates to check their results by visiting www.waecdirect.org (http://www.waecdirect.org) and to access the digital copies of their certificates, which have been released along with their results, through the Digital Certificate platform (www.waec.org (http://www.waec.org)).

Candidates may also apply for the printing of hard copies of their certificates online via the WAEC Certificate Request Portal (e-Certman).

The examination saw a 10.07% increase in entry figures compared to the 2022 results. A total of 85,600 candidates entered for the examination, and 80,904 candidates sat the examination at 568 centers across the country.

WAEC has also provided for candidates with special needs, with 211 candidates with varying degrees of special needs being registered for the examination.

Among these candidates, 33 were visually challenged, 21 had impaired hearing, and 30 were albinos.

This release of the 2023 WASSCE results for private candidates marks another milestone in the Nigerian education system, as more students continue to pursue their academic goals and strive for success in their examinations.
