Concerned Delta Progressives, (CDP) a political pressure group in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Delta State chapter has described as a recipe for failure the approved zoning list of offices for the State Executive Committee by the State Chairman, APC Caretaker Committee, Prophet Jones Ode Erue.
Recall that Jones Erue-led Delta State, APC Caretaker Committee, today released an approved zoning list into the State Executive Committee, Delta Central Senatorial District, to produce the party’s State Chairman, State Organising Secretary, State Publicity Secretary and other positions.
While Delta North Senatorial District is to produce Deputy State Chairman, State Legal Adviser, State Treasurer; and Delta South Senatorial District is to produce State Secretary, State Auditor, State Youth Leader, amongst others.
Reacting to the approved zoning of officers, CNP in a press release signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Ovie Oghenekaro and its Secretary, Comrade Chucks Enuamaka stated that it was sad that the state chairman could zone party offices without due consultation with critical stakeholders in the party as was usual with all his actions.
According to them, “with the zoning of the party’s offices, as released by Delta APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, Prophet Jones Ode Erue, it is clear that the party is not prepared to win Delta governorship election come 2023.
“This was how they messed up our chances of doing well at the just conducted Isoko South Constituency 1 House of Assembly By-election when they gave the party ticket to an unpopular candidate, and that created some much misgiving in the party leading to many party faithful working against the APC.
“It is an open secret that the party governorship ticket will be zoned to Delta Central, yet our party chairman who lost his pooling unit in the Isoko South Constituency 1 By-election and has never won his unit in all the elections since 2015, is out again to derail the party once more.
“What message is Jones Erue and his co-travellers sending to the people from Delta North and South Senatorial District? That they don’t matter? Can only Delta Central win the governorship election?
“If APC wants to win Delta State, they must do well to accommodate all interests, the leadership of the party must be broadminded, and no single senatorial district can produce a governor alone and time to put the party’s interest far above personal interests is now.”
