DESOPADEC Boss present 200 bags of groundnut seed to Uzere women; donates N5m to market women in Isoko

Managing Director/CEO of DESOPADEC, Bashorun Askia Ogieh has presented two hundred 200 bags of groundnut seeds to Uzere women

Ahead of the new planting season, the Managing Director/CEO of DESOPADEC, Bashorun Askia Ogieh has presented two hundred (200) bags of groundnut seeds to Uzere women to boast their Agricultural products in this New Year planting season.

While presenting the bags of groundnut to the women over the weekend at Uzere his hometown, the DESOPADEC Boss, Bashorun Askia Ogieh said, “The kind gesture is to encourage the women who are into groundnut farming and also to boost the Agricultural products of the women and economy of the State thereby reducing over dependence on the revenue from Oil production which is in line with Building a Stronger Delta Agenda of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.”

According to him, “Most of the groundnuts we consume are from the Northern part of the country. These bags of groundnut when harvested will reduce importation of food products into the State. We have to provide enabling environment for them so that farming can be easier and in return we will have sufficient food products for both consumption and export, just as we now have Delta Garri in stores in United Kingdom.”

Bashorun Askia Ogieh however, admonishes the women to put in their best in this new planting season so that the harvest can be enough for consumption and for commercial purposes; he also commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his support to farmers across the State.

In a related development, the MD/CEO of DESOPADEC, through the Bashorun Askia Foundation donated 5 million naira to Isoko Market Women Association to boost their business.

The DESOPADEC Boss said that, the donation was in fulfillment of the promises he made to Isoko Market Women Association during the 2019 general election and also to appreciate them for their support in the 2019 general and also to boost their business which in return better their lives.

He also empowered Miss Blessing Oghenetejiri Thompson with the sum of N1.1m for her hair Stylist business and Mr. Arutase Ukeko with the sum of N1.5 million to start up his Bakery business.
