FUTA Denies Allegations of Fake Professors

The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) has refuted claims that the institution has fake professors on its staff.

The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adenike Temidayo, made the announcement during a press briefing on January 9, 2024, where she emphasized that all the professors at the institution have been properly appointed and are qualified.

The statement comes in response to a controversial list circulating on social media, which claims to expose fake professors in Nigerian universities.

The list has sparked heated debates and raised concerns about the quality of education in the country.

Prof. Temidayo expressed disappointment over the list and the damage it has caused to the reputation of the university and its staff.

She stressed that FUTA has a rigorous process for appointing professors and that all staff members have been appointed in line with the university’s regulations and the National Universities Commission (NUC) guidelines.

The Vice-Chancellor also called on the public to disregard the list and not to engage in spreading false information that could harm the university’s reputation.

She encouraged anyone with concerns about the qualifications of any staff member to approach the university’s management for clarification.
