Delta State 2023 Peoples Democratic Party governorship aspirants, Chief Aghwarianovwe Novwe Ikie has congratulated Delta Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for his victory at the Supreme Court on Friday.

The United Kingdom-based lawyer who also resigned his membership of the ruling PDP in the state, debunked the claim by the state leadership of the PDP that he was an APC mole planted and sponsored by the immediate past Deputy President of the Senate, Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege, saying that the allegation is baseless.

Advocate.ng reports that the Supreme Court on Friday dismissed an appeal brought before it by Chief Ikie Aghwarianovwe, seeking Oborevwori’s disqualification for lacking in merit.

Chief Ikie, a founding PDP member in Delta in a statement on his Facebook page, said that he would have won his case if he had the deep financial war chest like his opponent and was backed by powerful and influential persons such as Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

Supreme Court set aside Nwaoboshi’s conviction, orders his immediate release

He disclosed that he was allegedly offered N1Billion to jettison the case but he turned it down because he was fighting for justice based on personal principles, if not he would have taken various inducements and looked the other way.

According to him; “I congratulate His Excellency Rt. Honourable Sheriff Oborevwori for his victory at the Supreme Court today, being 07/07/2023, in the pre-election case which I instituted against him, PDP & INEC.

“The above said it is not true that Distinguished Ovie Omo-Agege sponsored my case or that I was an APC mole within the PDP as now peddled by the PDP State Publicity Secretary.

“I am a PDP founding member. I would have won my said case if I had a financially powerful and influential backer such as Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

“I fought my case based on personal principles. Had I not, I would have taken the various inducements and ran. After all, had I been sponsored, the Distinguished Senator would have had to pay me well above the sum of 1 Billion Naira, that I was offered, in order for me to remain loyal to him.

“I am aware that several politicians, both within Delta State, Rivers State and beyond who are Ex-Governor Okowa’s political enemies, had an interest in the outcome of my case. None of these people contacted me directly or supported me with funds to prosecute my case. And I do not have control over what they may have done behind the scenes. They do not need my permission to take any action that they perceive as useful to their political interests.

“Once again, I thank each and every one of you that offered me words of encouragement as I engaged with this onerous mission that has just ended.

“Below is evidence of the acknowledgement of receipt of my resignation letter from the PDP by my Ward Chairman.

“God bless you all, God bless Delta State and may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
