Senator Ovie Omo-Agege,

Omo-Agege promises too Construct 2nd Udu bridge, Enerhen/Opete bridge

The Delta State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has promised that his administration will construct the Second Udu Bridge and Enerhen/Opete link bridge which connect the twin cities of Warri and Effurun in Udu local government area of the state.

He said the construction of both bridges will ease the horrific gridlock faced by residents of Udu, Warri, Uvwie and the environs in the state.

Omo-Agege, who is the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, spoke when his campaign stormed Otor-Udu, Ovwian and Aladja towns of Udu in continuation of the APC ward-to-ward campaign in Delta Central senatorial district.

Reeling out his achievements as senator, he told cheering crowd of supporters drawn from different communities of Udu that he understands the pains and needs of the people, assuring them that an APC-led government will fix them.

He said his administration will also construct the popular Oleri Leisure Park, in Udu, to boost the socioeconomic activities of the council and the state.

Omo-Agege described the current state of the popular Udu Bridge as a death trap, accusing the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa-led government of failing to fix the bridge which is at verge of collapsing.

Speaking at Otor-Udu, the traditional and administrative headquarters of Udu people, the APC governorship candidate declared that, “All the promises I made to Urhobo Nation as a Senator, I have fulfilled them all.

“I’m here today to present myself to Udu people to vote me as the next governor of Delta State. Developmental projects which Udu have been requesting for and they haven’t been able to get, I will bring them for you when I become governor.

“Udu bridge today is a death trap. It’s at the verge of collapsing. But you see, Delta is rich state. It’s just that those who are governing us are wicked. Delta has received N4.2trn in seven and a half years. How much does it cost to build a bridge? Okowa wants the bridge to collapse first. He wants people to die first, after their deaths, he will then set up a committee to do burial. That’s what he wants. But we reject it.

“I assure you and promise you, you have my commitment that Udu second bridge we will do it. We’ll also reconstruct the existing bridge. Can you imagine out of N4.2trn, the bridge won’t take up to N15 billion? Udu is an oil bearing local government. Udu that is producing the wealth of this country their bridge will collapse any moment from now but as far as Okowa is concerned, he doesn’t care.

“The Enerhen-Opete Bridge which our Udu people have been crying for, we’ll do it when emerged governor. The bridge in Enerhen-Opete is a very short one. Let me get there first. But count on me. Those developmental projects, we will bring them here. Trust me, we will do it. All you have to do is to vote me as next governor of Delta State.”

Meanwhile, market women at the popular Ubogo market in Udu, on Wednesday, shut down commercial activities to receive Senator Omo-Agege, whom they invited to inaugurate a self-sponsored water scheme executed by the market association.

The traders assured the Deputy President of the Senate that traders in Udu will vote Omo-Agege and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.

The campaign rally to Udu also received thousands of PDP defectors who assured him that APC will win Udu local government area at the polls.

Other APC leaders including the state party chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, Chief Ede Dafinone, Rev. Francis Waive, Rt. Hon. Monday Igbuya and Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi assured that APC will win Delta.
