The Edo State Government has announced that 102,650 residents will benefit from the second phase of the Federal Government’s cash transfer program.
This initiative, known as the Renewed Hope Cash Transfer of the National Social Safety Nets Project Scale-Up, aims to provide financial support to vulnerable households across the state.
The Edo State Social Investment Programme (SIP) General Manager, Yuwa Aladeselu, disclosed this at a one-day refresher training for local government cash transfer facilitators in Benin City.
She emphasized that the program is part of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s vision to help the poor and vulnerable in the state.
The cash transfer program has already made significant progress in Edo State.
In 2022, over 12,108 beneficiaries were enrolled and paid during the first phase of the program implementation.
As of now, 40,647 beneficiaries have been paid N25,000 across the 18 local government areas in the state.
With a social register of over 1.6 million persons and 314,000 households, the Edo State Government is committed to ensuring that the most vulnerable residents receive the support they need.
The cash transfer program is in line with the Federal Government’s vision to provide 15 million Nigerians with social protection and safety nets.
