Woman in court for allegedly stealing over N2m

A 25- year-old woman, Opeyemi Obidairo, was on Tuesday arraigned   before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing over N2.1million.

The defendant, a business woman who resides at Harmony Estate, off College road Ifako Ijaiye, Lagos is being tried for stealing and unlawful altering of account book.

The prosecutor, Insp. Bisi Ogunleye told the court that the offences were committed between August to November 2021 at Harmony Estate, Ifako Ijaiye, Lagos.

The prosecutor said that the defendant is one of the executive officers of Harmony Estate and so it was easy for her to alter the account books in order to steal

Ogunleye said that when the account was being audited it was discovered that N2, 156, 450.00 was missing.

The prosecutor said that the money belongs to the residents of the estate.

The offences according to the prosecutor contravened Sections 287 and 365 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mr M. A Adegbaye granted the defendant to bail of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Adegbaye adjourned the case until March 27 for mention.
