VP Shettima Flags Off South East Light Up Project in Enugu

Vice President Kashim Shettima has officially launched the Light Up Nigeria South-East project in Enugu, Nigeria on Monday.

The project is a collaboration between the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) and the federal government to improve energy supply to industrial clusters in the South East region.

The Light Up Nigeria South-East project aims to provide reliable power to industries and businesses in the region, which will in turn boost economic growth and create job opportunities.

The project involves the construction of an Independent Power Plant (IPP) that will generate and distribute electricity to various industrial clusters in the South East.

Speaking at the launch, Vice President Shettima emphasized the importance of the project in achieving the government’s economic development goals.

He stated, “The Light Up Nigeria South-East project is a testament to our commitment to providing reliable power to our industries and businesses, which will ultimately lead to economic growth and job creation.”

The NDPHC, a government-owned company, is responsible for implementing the project.

The company’s Managing Director, Chiedu Ugbo, expressed his excitement about the project, saying, “We are proud to be a part of this project that will bring much-needed power to the South East region.

We are confident that the project will be a success and will have a significant impact on the region’s economy.”

The launch of the Light Up Nigeria South-East project is a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to improve the country’s power sector and achieve its economic development goals.

The project is expected to be completed within the next two years, with power generation and distribution to industrial clusters in the South East starting shortly thereafter.
