Chris Waddle wants Newcastle United to splash the cash on Victor Osimhen this summer. The former England international believes the Nigerian striker is exactly what the Magpies need.

Osimhen would transform any Premier League side, according to Waddle. He described the Super Eagles forward as one of Europe's most complete strikers available today.

"He would elevate every team in the Premier League," Waddle told reporters. "He's a very consistent, dynamic player with absolute dominance in the air and high technical ability."

The 25-year-old has enjoyed a brilliant spell at Galatasaray this season. Osimhen has been among Europe's top scorers and helped the Turkish club clinch their 26th Super Lig title.

His performances have caught the eye of several major European clubs. Real Madrid has already been linked with a €100 million move for him.

Waddle insists Newcastle can't afford to wait around. The void left by Alexander Isak's departure to Liverpool still hasn't been properly filled, he noted.

"I really like Osimhen's style," Waddle added. "I watched him five or six times in Turkey and was amazed by his work ethic."

The striker's mentality impressed Waddle most of all. He never gives up on the pitch and constantly battles for every ball, according to the former winger.

Waddle admits he was shocked when Osimhen joined Galatasaray. Turkish football simply isn't his level, he believes.

"His move to Turkey surprised me a lot," Waddle said. "I know he's loved there, but I think he's far above that league's standard."

Multiple elite clubs would pursue Osimhen if he hits the market. Waddle reckons at least five other major sides besides Newcastle would make their move.

"If he were available today, five giant clubs would line up for him," Waddle noted. "He'd enhance any team in England's top division."

Age works in Osimhen's favour for now. Players typically hit peak performance between 28 and 30, Waddle pointed out.

"He still has great years ahead to experience his prime in the Premier League," the legend concluded. Newcastle should act fast before rivals move in.
