Veteran Nollywood actor, Amaechi Muonagor, has passed away at the age of 62 after a prolonged illness.
The news of his demise comes just days after a viral video where he sought financial help for a kidney transplant.
Muonagor, a native of Idemili in Anambra, was born on August 20, 1962.
He was a talented actor and producer who was nominated for the AMVCA 2017 Best Actor in a comedy.
He began his acting career in 1989 with his first movie role as Akunatakasi in Taboo 1, a Nigerian film.
The sudden news of his death has left his fans and colleagues heartbroken.
Social commentator Morris Monye expressed his grief on X, stating that Muonagor’s presence on the screen was truly masterful.
Monye also highlighted the need for better healthcare in Nigeria, as Muonagor’s struggle with kidney failure and the need for a transplant demonstrated the challenges faced by many in the country.
Muonagor’s passing follows that of his famous colleague John Okafor, known as Mr Ibu, who also passed away recently.
The Nigerian film industry mourns the loss of these talented actors, who have left a lasting impact on the world of cinema.
