Leader of All Progressive Congress, APC, Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor has said Prof. Pat Utomi represents the change Delta needs.

Emerhor stated this at his country home at Evwreni, Ughelli North Local Council Area when,  Utomi paid a consultative visit on him. He noted that Utomi is well suited for the governorship of the State, adding that he has the capacity to drive the process to ensure that APC takes over Delta state come 2019.

The APC leader reiterated his position that the opposition will not repeat the mistake of the past, stressing that like many others, he would have ran for the governorship again but for the present political environment and winning formula that doesn’t support him candidacy.

“As an individual, I have decided along with other committed APC leaders who really want change in Delta State that we will not do things the same way again this time; because the opposition in Delta has not had this type of opportunity that is available to us today.

“We now have people to look up to for assistance unlike in the past. More importantly, the desire for change in Delta is intense, because we know that the past PDP governments were bad, but it has not been this bad, so it’s easy to sack PDP from Delta, provided we nominate the right candidate.

“So, that is why on my honour, I will not allow sentiments, phony arguments and self interest to stop us from taking over Government House in 2019.

“You will recall that in 2015, I ran for governorship of Delta State, and still have the capacity to do that now, but I took a decision not to run because the environment supports a different formula and that formula excludes me and that is why am not out there consulting like others.

“Therefore, don’t let anybody fool you that he is the only person that can be governor in the state; we are not going to do governorship election by an individual. So, I am ready to be at the middle to get us to Government House Asaba.

“Prof. Utomi that is here today have many things going for him, and if you are looking for change Utomi represent change, all he needs is to reach out to other great leaders across the three senatorial districts to make it through the primary,” he added.

Earlier in his address, Prof. Utomi said that Delta state can be turned into an industrial state within three years, noting that Delta has no business been poor because all that is needed to galvanize it’s resources to turn it to a full employment economy.

According to him Delta is not where it should be, “if you are driving from Edo State into Delta, you will notice great difference, because the people decided that enough was enough, today they have transformation. God has not cursed us; Delta State is not supposed to be in darkness, Delta should be giving light to others because it has oil and gas.

He stated further that to change Delta State and transform it to industrial state is not a rocket science nor theory, that all that is needed is to bring Delta intellectuals together and get investors to develop the infrastructure.

“Our State cannot be made a state where people who can think are left out of government and those who don’t  know what they are doing are running its affairs, because it would amount to insane people in Asylum taking over the running of asylum while the doctors and administrators stayed aloof.

“To rescue Delta, effort must be made to bring back its intellectuals scattered around the world and turn the state to instant business. Because anybody who knows what he is doing can turn the state   around in three years, three years is enough to transform Delta.

“First of all, there must be light in this state, the crime and problem we have is because we are in darkness, so let start symbolically with the light and we have a clear vision of how to ensure a full employment economy.”

He added there is so much poverty in Delta state, noting that people now see food from burial ceremony as the main meal of the day. “We must not allow that situation to continue in Delta”, he emphasized.

Prof Utomi stated also that why government of Delta State cannot attract investors or funds for infrastructural development is because those running government are not thinking deeply and lacks integrity to attract such funds.
