Upcoming Artist Akorede Accuses Shallipopi of Song Theft Scandal

Upcoming artist Akorede has accused fellow singer Shallipopi of stealing his unreleased song and releasing it as his own.

The allegations have stirred controversy in the music industry, with Akorede sharing his experience and calling out Shallipopi on X (formerly Twitter).

Akorede claims that he sent his unreleased song titled ‘Wait’ from 2021 to someone for analysis, only for Shallipopi to use the same beats and lyrics in his track ‘Dey’ from his newly released album.

According to Akorede, this incident has taught him a lesson about the music industry, suggesting that it was a betrayal from someone he trusted.

Taking to X, Akorede expressed his disappointment and frustration, stating, “Why would I send you my unreleased song to hear your opinion as my guy and you give my song to Shallipopi?”

He further criticized Shallipopi, asserting, “Lol @plutomaniapopi I’ve been too sweet before you put your first song on Apple Music! TOO SWEET before you started. Uploading on audiomack @plutomaniapopi ..werey.”

This accusation comes in the wake of similar allegations against Shallipopi, with veteran Nigerian singer Blackface recently accusing him of intellectual property theft.

Blackface claimed that Shallipopi sampled his iconic song ‘Enemy Plan’ in his recent album, which has been a significant part of his career.

The music industry has seen numerous instances of plagiarism and copyright infringement allegations in the past.

However, it remains to be seen how Shallipopi and his team will respond to these serious allegations from Akorede.
