UEFA revealed its Europa League Team of the Season on Thursday, just hours after the tournament wrapped up Wednesday evening in Turkey.
Aston Villa's dominant campaign earned them four spots on the prestigious roster. They'd claimed the trophy by crushing Freiburg 3-0 in the final.
Emiliano Martínez earned goalkeeper honors for his performances between the posts. Villa's defensive contributions came through John McGinn and Morgan Rogers in midfield.
The squad also features Antony of Real Betis up front. Nottingham Forest's Igor Jesus and Aston Villa's Emiliano Buendía round out the attacking line.
Victor Gómez of Braga and Freiburg's Matthias Ginter anchored the backline. Morato (Nottingham Forest) and Oscar Mingueza (Celta) completed the defensive unit.
Freiburg midfielder Maximilian Eggestein made the cut despite their second-place finish. UEFA's Technical Observer Group compiled the final selection.
