Uduaghan cites Bokò Haram threat as reason for shutting down viewing centers in Delta

The immediate past governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has cited Bokò Haram threat as reason why the state government shutdown viewing centers established in every major cities and town in state, that today has become homes for destitute.  

Uduaghan stated this, while dispelling insinuation on a Facebook post by Mr Aruviere Egharhevwa alleging that the viewing canters littered across the state has been abandoned.

Reacting to the post the former governor noted that the centers at a time attracted many people when live matches were played, but were shut down following security report over threat of Bokò Haram attack on viewing centers.

According to him; “These were very popular spots whenever there were football matches or other events.  We had to shut them for security reasons.

“A viewing centre had been bombed in Jos and there was threat of Bokò Haram moving down South. So the SSS advised that all public viewing centers be shut down nationwide. That was why we shut them down,” he added.

Uduaghan noted that the Okowa-led government could convert the centers to other uses.
