Tiwa Savage: From Crush to Career in Music and Film

Nigerian vocalist Tiwa Savage recently disclosed that her initial interest in music stemmed from a crush she had on a “guy” who often spent time with artists.

In a recent interview with MTV Live, Savage shared this revelation while promoting her new film, “Water and Garri,” marking her debut in Nollywood.

“Water and Garri,” produced by Everything Savage and Unbound Studios, is set to be released on Amazon Prime Video.

The movie, directed by Meji Alabi, is part of Prime Video Nigeria’s growing collection of high-quality Nollywood entertainment.

Savage, who initially had a passion for acting, decided to pursue music to be closer to her crush. She explained, “I’ve always wanted to do acting.

Acting was one of my first love before music. I got into music because I had a crush on a guy and he was always around the musician so I said ‘yeah, forget acting and just go into music.'”

Despite her initial motivations, Tiwa Savage has made a significant impact in the Nigerian music industry and is now expanding her creative endeavors to include acting.

Her debut film, “Water and Garri,” showcases her versatility as an artist and her ability to captivate audiences in multiple art forms.
