Afrobeats artiste Spyro has accused religious leaders of profiting from Nigeria's ongoing insecurity and economic crisis. He made the assertion during a Wozabia FM Lagos interview.

According to Spyro, clerics remain silent because the nation's deterioration benefits them financially. Most refuse to speak up as their duty demands.

"Nigerian religious leaders should speak up against insecurity," he told the station. They ought to guide congregants on personal security and include it in sermons.

Spyro criticized clergy for failing to educate worshippers on electoral matters. He noted that spiritual leaders have a responsibility to their flocks' wellbeing.

In his words, pastors and imams gain more money as conditions worsen. "Anywhere there is a crisis in a country, the people who benefit the most are religious leaders."

He called for accountability across all leadership ranks. This includes holding clerics responsible for their actions and inactions.

The 'Who's Your Guy' hitmaker believes congregants deserve proper guidance from their spiritual fathers. Without it, he suggested, Nigerians remain vulnerable to manipulation and exploitation.
