Simi Claps Back at Critics: “Switch Up Your Sound” Comments Irk Nigerian Singer

Nigerian singer-songwriter Simi has responded to critics who have been urging her to “switch up her sound.”

The Afrobeats artist took to her X platform (formerly Twitter) to address the issue and express her feelings on the matter.

Simi, known for her unique blend of soulful vocals and catchy melodies, has made a name for herself as one of Afrobeats’ finest songstresses.

However, some fans have been asking her to change her musical style, claiming her songs are repetitive.

In her response, Simi made it clear that she has no intention of switching up her sound and suggested that those who don’t enjoy her music should listen to someone else.

She also pointed out that her last 10 singles have all been different and that the claims of her songs being repetitive are unfounded.

Simi went on to describe the calls for her to switch up her sound as uninspired, unbacked, and tired.

She emphasized that she is not going to change her style just because a few people are asking her to.

Simi also touched on the subject of her solo efforts being underappreciated and criticized, while her features on other artists’ songs receive constant praise.

She reminded listeners that Grammy-winning British singer Adele has been singing Ballads for over a decade without anyone asking her to switch it up.

The Nigerian singer-songwriter has made it clear that she is not interested in changing her sound to please critics.

Instead, she is focused on creating music that she loves and staying true to her artistic vision.
